RPOF Advises Democrats Not to be so Quick to Embrace Charlie Crist

GOP leaders want Floridians to remember Charlie Crist as the pro-gun, pro-traditional marriage Republican he was went he so often was busy running for office in the past.

They say its best not to give him the satisfaction of tagging a liberal label on his because thats what he wants if the now independent Crists ultimate goal is to campaign for the office in 2014 as a Democrat.

Rick Scott Cancels his Tuesday Convention Plans for Isaac

Gov. Rick Scott has canceled his activities planned for Tuesday around the Republican National Convention to focus on Tropical Storm Isaac.

On Saturday, Scott announced that he wouldnt participate in Mondays opening day of the four-day convention, where he was scheduled to speak.

With the center of the large systemexpected to go west of Tampa, the Republican National Committee would later cancel Mondays activities as a safety measure.

Ron Paul 'republiCAN' Rally Off to Boisterous and Controversial Start

Texas congressman and Republican primary presidential candidate Ron Paul's official pre-nominating convention rally kicked off to a raucous start, as thousands of conservative and libertarian enthusiasts crowded theUSF Sun Dome in Tampa.

The event, officially titled the "Ron Paul republiCAN We Are the Future Rally," began at noon, right on schedule. Historian and political adviser Doug Wead acted as master of ceremonies and delivered the opening remarks, describing Paul as "a clean boat in a sea of garbage."

Isaac Blows Down Opening Day of the GOP Convention

With Florida now under a state of emergency because of Tropical Storm Isaac, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus released a statement Saturday evening that virtually cancels day one of the 2012 Republican National Convention.

First, Gov. Rick Scott announced he was giving up his Monday night stage time at the convention to focus on the storm, expected to reach the Florida Keys on Sunday.
