Conflict of Interest? Unions Endorse Justices While Florida Supreme Court Decides Their Case

While prominent lawyers and interest groups around Florida are vociferously condemning organized opposition to the November retention of three of the Sunshine States Supreme Court justices, they are curiously silent on one partys entrance into the public debate: the public-sector unions.

NFIB Gives Strong Support to GOP in Legislative Contests

The National Federation of Independent Business/Florida has released a strictly Republican slate of state legislative endorsements for the November general election.

These candidates priorities align with those of the small-business community, and were confident they will be effective allies to our members in the fight to create jobs and improve the economy, NFIB/Florida Executive Director Bill Herrle stated in a release.

Mike Bennett Seeks State Investigation in KB Homes

State Sen. Mike Bennett, who is running for supervisor of election in Manatee County, has requested Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi investigate the business practices of KB Home, the Bradenton Herald reports.

Bennett said he requested the investigation after learning about two whistle-blower lawsuits filed against KB Home by former employees in recent years, The Herald reported.

Democratic Candidate Keith Fitzgerald Fires Spokeswoman After X-Rated, Anti-Catholic Rants Exposed

On Monday, U.S. congressional candidate Keith Fitzgerald, D-Sarasota, announced the firing of new communications director Ana Maria Rosato barely 90 minutes after Sunshine State News brought to light a string of recent pornographic and anti-Catholic tirades on her blog.

Fitzgerald is running against Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan for Florida's 16th Congressional District.

Rick Scott, Allen West, Dan Webster Added as Victory Dinner Speakers

Gov. Rick Scott and U.S. Reps. Allen West, R-Palm Beach Gardens, and Dan Webster, R-Orlando, have been added to the speakers list for the Republican Party of Floridas 2012 Victory Dinner on Thursday at Disney's Contemporary Resort in Orlando.

The keynote speaker for the $150-a-plate dinner is Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.
