Progress Nuke Repair Decision Lingers

Trying to unravel questions about costs and potential damage, Progress Energy Florida said Tuesday a decision could still be months away about whether to repair or permanently shut down an idled nuclear power plant at Crystal River.

Progress officials, in an update to state regulators, said the high-stakes decision could come in December at the earliest -- and might not be made until as late as next summer.

Pam Bondi: Map Out Sex Offenders Before Trick-or-Treating

Attorney General Pam Bondi advised parents to visit the Florida Department of Law Enforcements Sexual Offenders and Predators Website before sending the kids out to trick-or-treat for Halloween.

I encourage parents to use the Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators website to plan a safe route for trick-or-treating and to alert authorities of any known sex offenders or predators who distribute candy to children this Halloween, Bondi stated in a release.

Florida Insurance Commissioner Offers Aid to Sandy-Impacted States

Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty released the following statement regarding Hurricane Sandy:

I would like to offer my thoughts and prayers to those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. I have been in contact with several of the insurance commissioners in the affected states, and have offered any assistance that we can provide based on our states expertise in handling catastrophic events.
