Only Three of 11 Florida Amendments Passed by Voters

With 95 percent of precincts reporting their vote totals, it's clear only Amendments 2 (Veterans Property Tax), 9 (Property Tax Exemptions for Surviving Spouses), and 11 (Senior Homestead Tax Exemption) have reached the necessary 60 percent threshold to enactment. They are the only three on the ballot to have offered homestead tax exemptions. The other eight measures didn't even pass by simplemajorities.

Sen. Maria Sachs Holds off Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff

In the clash of state Senate incumbents, Sen. Maria Sachs, D-Boca Raton, held off Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale,

Sachs took nearly 53 percent of the vote.

Senate President-designate Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, who had predicted Bogdanoff would prevail in the Democratic-leaning district, said she ran a "hard-fought campaign."

Congressional Race Closeups: Steve Southerland Prevails; Lois Frankel Coasts

In CD 2, Republican Congressman Steve Southerland endured a spirited fight from former state Sen. Al Lawson, keeping his North Florida seat. Political observers called the race at 10 p.m. for the Panama City mortician with 320, 887 votes cast. Southerland had 53.26 percent of the the vote to Tallahassee Democrat Lawson's 46.74 percent.

Throughout the very long presidential election cycle, two trends remained consistent. The media lauded Obama no matter how horrendous his record, and they savaged Obama's Republican contenders as ridiculous pretenders.

Florida’s Bill Nelson Wins Third U.S. Senate Term

U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., 70, has won a third term, claiming some 55 percent of the vote with 54 percent of the Sunshine States precincts reporting their vote tallies. Four-term Republican congressman Connie Mack IV pulled in about 42 percent of the vote total.

Bill Nelson Wins, Says FOX, CNN

Both CNN and FOX TV networks have called the U.S. Senate race for Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson.

It looked ominous for Republican challenger Congressman Connie Mack IV at 7:30 p.m. ET when the most conservative county in Florida, Clay, clocked Nelson 10 points behind Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Romney was beating President Barack Obama at that point -- with 55 percent of the vote counted -- 73 percent to 26 percent.

Large animal doctor Ted Yoho, radio host Trey Radel and former Rep. Alan Grayson, appear to be heading to Washington as the first numbers are out from the Division of Elections.

Obama Has Slight Edge in EDT Pre-Election Day Voting

Early and absentee voting in the Eastern Daylight Time Zone went to President Obama, with a 51.54 percent (2,436,040) to 47.72 (2,255,308) percent total for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, per numbers just out from the state Division of Elections.

The western Panhandle counties in the Central Daylight Time Zone early and absentee ballot totals are expected to be posted at 8:30 p.m.

Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received 20,854 votes, 0.44 percent.
