Rick Scott Speaking at Federalist Society’s Lawyers Convention

Gov. Rick Scott will be one of the Friday speakers during the Federalist Society's 2012 National Lawyers Convention in Washington, D.C.

The three-day event titled The Future of U.S. Constitutional Law in the Supreme Court is being held at the Mayflower Hotel. The event features a number of panel discussions on topics ranging from case law to judicial activism.

Floridians Formally Petition Obama Administration for Secession

The Daily Caller reports on 20 petitions at WhiteHouse.Gov, asking the administration to review requests by tens -- if not hundreds -- of thousands of Americans for their states to be allowed to secede from the United States of America.

And if enough signatures are collected within a certain time period, the Obama administration will be compelled by its own rules to officially respond to the requests:

"How would Old Glory look with 30 stars instead of 50? As far-fetched as it may sound, the White House might soon be forced by its own rules to examine the question.

Gas Prices Down, Turkey Meal Costs Up

The cost of a Thanksgiving dinner is on the rise, but the travel over the rivers to grandmothers house in Florida is expected to be a little cheaper at the pump from a year ago.

While a barrel of oil rose slightly in the past week in part on greater consumer confidence, AAA reported that a gallon of regular gas stood at $3.37 in Florida, down 6 cents from both a week and a year ago.

"Although oil prices inched up slightly, retail gas prices are expected to fall throughout the month," AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady stated in a release.

After an all-afternoon machine recount that went deep into Sunday night, one-time future House speaker Chris Dorworth appears no closer to reversing his apparent Election Night defeat.

The Lake Mary Republican, who has already penned a farewell letter to members of the House Republican Caucus, now sits 140 votes behind Democrat Mike Clelland, 17 votes further away than when the recount began.

Rick Scott to Attend Veterans Day Parade in Jacksonville

Gov. Rick Scott will be in Jacksonville on Monday for the Veterans Day parade.

The downtown parade is set to start at 11:01 a.m.

Scotts schedule also has him touring the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
