Rick Scott Welcomes Indian Company With Its Promised 400 Jobs to Gainesville

Gov. Rick Scott stopped off in Gainesville Tuesday to celebrate the grand opening of Mindtree Limited's first U.S. delivery center. The Indian company says its U.S. expansion, which it announced last March, will bring the Gainesville area 400 jobs over the next five years and a $2.925 million capital investment in Ayers Building at Innovation Square.

Scott joined Mindtrees co-founders Krishnakumar Natarajan and Scott Staples for the ribbon cutting.

Steve Crisafulli Chosen Unanimously as Speaker-Designate

Space Coast Republican Steve Crisafulli will find himself unexpectedly as the next in line to be House speaker after the GOP caucus unanimously chose him to replace the defeated Rep. Chris Dorworth in the line of succession.

Crisafulli, of Merritt Island, was chosen Monday by the caucus to be speaker-designate in the coming two years, which means he'll follow incoming House Speaker Will Weatherford in November of 2014, assuming Crisafulli remains in office and Republicans, as expected, keep control of the chamber.

Just left a message congratulating newly elected Rep.Mike Clelland, Dorworth Tweeted. May God bless Florida and her House of Representatives.

Clelland, an attorney and former firefighter, told the Orlando Sentinel that "Right now, I just want to get up there [to Tally], build some trust with Republicans, find some common ground and get to work."

Florida Supreme Court Could Refund Millions of Dollars in Red Light Fines

The Huffington Post reports on a case that will soon be heard by the Florida Supreme Court, contesting the legality of red light camera tickets issued by municipalities before such devices were approved by the Florida Legislature:
