Florida Cabinet Will Meet Tuesday to Discuss Dozier Exhumation

The Florida Cabinet will be meeting Tuesday to discuss the Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, possibly giving a team of researchers from the University of South Florida the green light to proceed with the exhumation process at several burial sites at the school.

Chris Latvala Files for Pinellas County House Seat

Chris Latvala, the son of Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, declared Monday he would run for the Florida House. Today I begin my candidacy for the Florida House, District 67, Chris Latvala posted on Twitter.

Latavla is running for the Florida House seat currently held by Rep. Ed Hooper, R-Clearwater, who faces term limits in 2014. Two other Republicans -- Christoper Shepard and Frederick Thompson -- are already running for the seat which represents parts of Pinellas County.

Matt Gaetz Agrees to Debate with Dream Defenders Director

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, agreed to a televised debate with executive director of the Dream Defenders Phillip Agnew to discuss Florida's Stand Your Ground law.

Agnew challenged Gaetz to a debate via Twitter on Sunday after he read news reports saying Gaetz wouldn't support changing the self-defense law. Gaetz has been particularly vocal about his stance on Stand Your Ground and was chosen by House Speaker Will Weatherford to hold a hearing on the controversial law in the fall.

Ron Paul Group Pushes Federal Reserve Audit and Ben Bernanke Replacement

The Campaign for Liberty, a group chaired by former Congressman Ron Paul, is going all out to audit the Federal Reserve. Paul launched the Audit the Fed bill and, while he is no longer serving in Congress, more than 150 congressmen are currently sponsoring the legislation.

Americans Divided on Health Care Law

A new poll by Rasmussen Reports shows Americans are divided on whether their state should have its own health care exchange, but nearly half of voters want their governor to oppose President Obama's health care law.

The poll found that 40 percent of likely U.S. voters want their governor to support implementation of the health care law in their state, but nearly half -- 48 percent -- instead want their governor to oppose implementation. Support for implementation of the health care law is down a point from the previous survey conducted in June.

Allen West Gets Involved in Young Marines Religious Liberty Matter

Former Congressman Allen West went to bat on Monday for the Young Marines, a program being run by the Bossier Parrish sheriffs office in Louisiana. The Young Marines were threatened with having federal funds cut off due to their inclusion of prayers in their activities. The Foundation gave the Young Marines $2,000.
