Elizabeth Porter Endorses Blaise Ingoglia
Another state representative has added her name to the long list of supporters for state representative hopeful Blaise Ingoglia. Rep. Elizabeth Porter, R-Lake City, signed off and had warm words for Ingoglia as he campaigns for House District 35, whichcovers most of Hernando County.
The seat is currently held by Rep. Rob Schenck, who must leave office because of term limits.

Grady Judd Takes Over Florida Sheriffs Association
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd will be taking over as the president of the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA). Judd is very familiar with the FSA, having chaired its board of directors and having been treasurer, secretary and vice president of the group.
Sheriff Judd was selected for this position because of his extensive experience in various roles within law enforcement, said FSA Executive Director Steve Casey in a statement on Wednesday morning. He brings more than 40 years of experience, a highly successful tenure as a leader, as well as multiple honors and awards.

Pennsylvania Names Frank Brogan University Chancellor
Former Florida lieutenant governor and university executive Frank Brogan is packing his bags and heading to Pennsylvania, where he's been called as the new chancellor of the State System of Higher Education. Brogan was chosen Wednesday over two other finalists after a secret search process. Brogan washired by a 15-0 vote on Wednesday by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Educations Board of Governors.

Florida Childhood Obesity Rate Drops
Childhood obesity is finally showing signs of decline, and Florida is one state that's seen a drop in the obesity rate from 2008 to 2011.
The child obesity rate for low-income preschool-age children declined from 2008 to 2011, according to federal data. Childhood obesity had been leveling off in recent years, a generation after it began to rise, alarming physicians and public health experts and prompting public health officials to start nationwide campaigns to bring the rate down.

Rick Scott Points to Florida's Savings by Reducing Debt
In a statement on Wednesday and at the state Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Gov. Rick Scott showcased Floridas reduced debt. On Tuesday, Scott announced $3.5 billion in debt had been paid down by the state and pointed to glowing assessments of Floridas economy from Moodys.
