Protesters Greet Rick Scott at St. Lucie Lock and Dam

Gov. Rick Scott made his arrival at the St. Lucie lock and dam around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, and throngs of protesters were there to greet him at the gates. Many protesters -- around 500 -- gatheredwith signs to protest water discharges from Lake Okeechobee.

Alan Williams Files Legislation to Repeal 'Stand Your Ground'

The Dream Defenders may have left the Florida Capitol last week, but the battle to repeal the controversial Stand Your Ground law in Florida is far from over. Rep. Alan Williams, D-Tallahassee, filed legislation (HB 4003) Monday to repeal the law, which gathered considerable media attention after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Florida Cabinet, Rick Scott Approve 21,000-Acre Conservation Land Purchase

Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet approved the purchase of nearly 21,000 acres of conservationland as part of a partnership between the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, The Trust for Public Land and landowner M.C. Davis after Florida was awarded $1.75 million from the U.S. Department of Defense as part of the 2013 REPI Challenge.
