Florida Democratic Party Backs Away From Allie Braswell

The tables have turned for short-lived chief financial officer candidate Allie Braswell, and now the Florida Democratic Party is backing away from supporting him in his campaign.
We advised Mr. Braswell to slow down so he could better prepare, said spokesman for the Florida Democratic Party Joshua Karp. He was very eager to announce and its clear now he was unprepared for mounting this kind of campaign.

U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., is one of the top targets in Florida in 2014 for Republicans and conservatives. The freshman Democrat will be reminded of that on Tuesday when the Florida chapter of Americans for Prosperity will rally at Palm Beach State College before Murphy speaks there at a town hall event.

RPOF Rips Florida Dems for Going All In With Allie Braswell

The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) is taking aim at the Florida Democrats after Allie Braswell dropped out of the state CFOs race on Monday, only four days after he entered. The RPOF slammed Florida Democrats Chairwoman Allison Tant for backing Braswell before looking at his personal finances which include three bankruptcies.

Garrett Richter Honored as Small Business Champion

Florida Senate President Pro Tempore Garrett Richter, R-Naples, was honored as a Champion of Small Business" by the National Coalition for Capital last week. Richter was honored for his work supporting the Florida New Markets tax credit.

Allie Braswell Withdraws from CFO Race

Allie Braswell withdrew Monday from his campaign to be Florida's next chief financial officer, according to reports. Braswell, a Democrat, had been in the race for less than a week.
Current CFO Jeff Atwater's camp did not sound too concerned about Braswell entering the race.

State Toys With Idea of Raising Toll Rate for I-95 Express Lanes

State officials are considering the idea of raising toll rates on I-95 from $1 to $1.50 due to the fact that too many drivers are willing to pay the current toll rate when congestion is at its worst on Florida highways.
"What that tells us is that a lot of folks are accepting the express lanes concept and are using them more frequently," Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, executive director of Florida's Turnpike, told Sun Sentinel.
