AFP Puts Patrick Murphy on Notice for 2014
U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., is one of the top targets in Florida in 2014 for Republicans and conservatives. The freshman Democrat will be reminded of that on Tuesday when the Florida chapter of Americans for Prosperity will rally at Palm Beach State College before Murphy speaks there at a town hall event.
Congressman Murphy wants to know what should be done about the federal budget and the answer is simple cut spending and dont raise taxes, said Slade OBrien, AFPs state director, on Monday. In the coming months, Congress is once again going to debate raising the debt ceiling, and it is absolutely essential that that discussion focuses on serious spending cuts without raising taxes on American families and businesses.
Federal spending is out of control and keeps getting worse, OBrien added. Weve had four straight years of trillion-dollar deficit spending. We paid almost $360 billion last year just on interest on our debt. The madness has to stop and our elected officials in D.C. must look at cutting spending rather than continuing down the path they have been on, which is taxing and spending our country into bankruptcy.
