Steve Southerland Meets with Small-Business Owners to Discuss Overregulation
U.S. Congressman Steve Southerland, R-Fla., met with business owners Tuesday in Tallahassee to discuss the impact of overregulation challenging small-business owners.
As the owner of a small business in Florida, I have experienced the effects of overregulation firsthand, and it is important that we understand the correlation between our successful small businesses and job creation, said Southerland. Making it easier for business owners to operate with regulation that makes sense will benefit everyone, and Im committed to working to help identify and alleviate some of the regulatory burdens that negatively impact small-business owners.
The onslaught of new regulations being passed down from Capitol Hill creates cumbersome obstacles for our states small-business owners, National Federation of Independent Business/Florida Executive Director Bill Herrle said. Now is the time for this administration to enact common-sense regulatory reforms at the federal level that help Americas small businesses and promote long-term economic growth, and were honored to work with Congressman Southerland to shine a spotlight on the negative impacts of overregulation.
The business tour and discussion was hosted byNational Federation of Independent Business/Florida and was held atCapelouto Termite & Pest Controlin Tallahassee.According to the federal Office of Management and Budget, there are more than 4,100 new regulations pending approval today in Washington, D.C. Small Businesses for Sensible Regulations is a coalition launched by NFIB in 2011, which represents the interests of more than 350,000 members nationwide who are concerned about the impact of costly federal regulations on small businesses.
