U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., continued to push against President Barack Obamas federal health-care law on Tuesday as he wrote U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, urging her to visit SeaWorld workers who are losing hours due to the law which goes into effect on Oct. 1. Sebelius will be in Orlando on Friday.

Rick Scott Kicks off Tax Cut Tour in West Palm Beach
Gov. Rick Scott kicked off his new four-day tax cut tour in West Palm Beach Tuesday. The "It's Your Money" tour follows Scott's recent announcement of his plan to cut taxes and fees for Florida families by $500 million in the next proposed budget.
Scott will be making stops in five major cities, including Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville.

Vern Buchanan Backs Russian Proposal on Syria
With the Russian government indicating it will work with Syria for that nation to relinquish its chemical weapons, U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., said the idea had merits and should be considered.
The Russian proposal to address Syria through diplomatic negotiations instead of military action deserves serious consideration, Buchanan said on Tuesday. Whether or not this becomes a reality, the door has now been opened for the international community to express support for a diplomatic solution. By so doing, our country can avoid an ill-advised military strike.

Rick Scott Names Christi Underwood to 9th Circuit Court
Gov. Rick Scott named attorney Christi L. Underwood to the 9th Judicial Circuit Court on Tuesday. Formerly with Foley & Lardner, Underwood has been a sole practitioner for more than a decade. She takes the post which had been held by Judge Frederic Rand Wallis who resigned.
Through her decades of practicing law, Christie has exhibited the qualities that make for a fair and capable judge, Scott said. I am certain she will continue to demonstrate knowledge of the law and judicial restraint while serving the citizens of Florida on the 9th Judicial Circuit bench.
