Textbook Bill Heads to Rick Scott for Approval

A bill to give parents a chance to object to textbooks being used in schools made its way through the Florida Senate on Thursday, where it passed by a vote of 31-4.

SB 864, sponsored by Sen. Alan Hays, R-Umatilla, would require school districts to hold public hearings if parents object to the textbooks being used by students.

Ron DeSantis Continues the Fight Against Obamacare

David Vitters, R-Fla., attempts to ensure congressmen and senators dont get subsidies from President Barack Obamas federal health-care law. DeSantis is the House sponsor of Vitters bill which the Louisiana senator crafted as an amendment to an energy efficiency bill pending in the Senate.

Ander Crenshaw: MILCON Bill Good for Defense Operations on First Coast

On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., who sits on the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, backed the 2015 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MILCON) Appropriations Bill which he says will help defense projects on the First Coast. The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate.

Dennis Ross's Amendment to Save Military Commissaries from Defense Cuts Passes House

This week, U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Fla., introduced an amendment to the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act which ensures military commissaries will remain open even as the Defense Department looks to make cuts. The bill, with the amendment, passed the House.

Ross took to the House floor to make his case.
