It’s no secret that being able to access affordable, quality health care is critical to maintaining good health and enjoying a prosperous life. In Florida, our community health centers fill the role of providing comprehensive primary and preventive care to every patient, regardless of their ability to pay. And by helping to keep these patients out of hospital emergency rooms, we are able to save the state millions of dollars every year.

Pacific Legal Foundation filed an amicus brief Friday,  joined by our friends at Reason and the American Civil Rights Union, urging the Supreme Court to grant Brott v. United States, a case about whether property owners are entitled to a jury when the federal government takes their land.

More than 50 members of Congress, including majorities of both the Florida and Texas congressional delegations, called on Congress to pass agricultural disaster relief before Christmas as part of a supplemental funding bill. 

When it formed in Tallahassee two and a half years ago, Citizens for Responsible Spending's sole goal was to urge Tallahassee city commissioners to cut expenses before raising property taxes and to shed sunshine on a city budget process that was anything but transparent.

Our founders knew that it was a natural human right to own and use firearms for self-preservation and included the Second Amendment to the Constitution to protect that right. Whether you live in Miami or Pensacola, citizens should always have the right to protect themselves and their families. Law enforcement does a great job protecting citizens but there are times where people can be in imminent danger and cannot wait for law enforcement to be there in what could be a matter of seconds before someone could face death from an armed criminal.

We’ve all heard of fake news.  Well, what about news that’s deceiving?

“Be strong. Be brave.” Those were the encouraging words of Florida Sens. Lizbeth Benacquisto and Lauren Book to the six then-unnamed accusers of Sen. Jack Latvala. Both Benacquisto, the rules chair for the Senate, and Book, a Democrat, took to Twitter to promote the statement.

This week, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., the chairwoman of the U.S. House Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, held a hearing on “The Latest Developments in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.” In her opening statement, she said the following:

Whether it’s a Hollywood executive, an all-star sports figure or eminent politician, the issue of unlawful harassment continues to show its pervasive face across our contemporary world.

As a fifth generation Floridian, I’ve always felt blessed to call Florida home, a place that people from all over the world dream of one day visiting or living. As Hurricane Irma made landfall in September, my gratitude for living in this great state only deepened. One after another, moving stories about Floridians selflessly, courageously and generously helping one another emerged in the face of adversity.
