Lake Okeechobee Lunacy: Stuart City Commission Wants Government to 'Take' Private Land
When you're rich and righteous and "egged on by a witch hunt by the liberal Stuart News," you believe God wants you to "take" land. Apparently.
Whatever you need. Take it.
That's how it appears in Stuart, where hysteria so gripped the Stuart City Commission at its last meeting that it voted to ask government agencies to seize huge tracts of private land owned by sugar and agricultural farmers so it can be flooded to relieve estuary pollution.

Rick Scott, Joe Negron to Tour Scene of 'Lethal' Okeechobee Discharges in Stuart
Gov. Rick Scott's office announced Thursday afternoon that on Tuesday the governor and Sen. Joe Negron, R-Stuart, will tour the St. Lucie lock and dam on the St. Lucie River in Stuart -- scene of massive discharges of polluted fresh water, sent east from Lake Okeechobee. The discharges,called "lethal" by local residents, are widely blamed for what ails the now-lifeless St. Lucie Estuary.

Dream Defenders Livin' Large in State Hotel (Thank you, Taxpayers!)
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports that the overtime bill for Sunday security at the Capitol during the 27th day of the Dream Defenders' sleep-in was $7,407.86. That's for the one night.
Let's see now ...
There were 10 Dream Defenders who spent the night. That makes the OT costs approximately $740.79 for every protester.

Dozier Exhumations Close to State OK
Finally, movement on the University of South Florida's request to begin the exhumation of remains at the site of the former Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys in Marianna.
The Florida board of trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund has on its calendar for Aug. 6 a vote on a joint land-use agreement with the Department of Environmental Protection to permit the excavation of human remains on the Dozier property.
