Family-Friendly Orlando? Don't Say That to the Jaroszes
One of family-friendly Orlando's theme parks wasn't so friendly to one family on Aug. 24. According to WPTV-Channel 5 in West Palm Beach, a teenager's "sweet 16" birthday party ended in a bust when she and her family were kicked out of a Universal Studios theme park.
Why?
Because the teen's dad, Christian Jarosz, was wearing a T-shirt with the wrong words. It read, "Police" -- and underneath, "Street Crime Unit." Jarosz said he'd worn it in the park before, it was a gift from his brother in New York, and park security officers wouldn't even escort him to a store on the premises where he could buy another shirt.
"They kicked me out because of my T-shirt," Jarosz told WPTV. Period.
The family was on its way to a Blue Man Group performance in the park. Universal wouldn't show Jarosz where the T-shirt policy is written anywhere, but it did reimburse him the $500 for the tickets.
Universal later told the TV station in an email that no one except real police officers can represent themselves in the theme park as police.
Jarosz's wife Diana told WPTV, "They even threatened to arrest us. That really terrified me. I run a school! I've never done anything against the law."
