Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, who is now running in the Republican primary to take on Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, unveiled his Polk County team on Friday.

Bay Buchanan Backs Mitt Romney for President
Bay Buchanan, former treasurer of the United States, guided her brother Pat to two big showings in the New Hampshire primary when she was the campaign manager for his presidential bids. Pat Buchanan upset Bob Dole to win the Granite State in 1996 and came very close to beating then-President George H.W. Bush in 1992. On Friday, Bay Buchanan announced that she was backing former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts for the Republican presidential nomination.

Mitt Romney Leads in Another New Hampshire Poll
Former Gov. Mitt Romney is leading in New Hampshire according to a Suffolk University/7News poll released on Friday while former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum continues to move up in the Granite State. New Hampshire will hold its primary on Tuesday.
Romney takes 40 percent in the poll with U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas in second with 17 percent. Santorum takes third with 11 percent in the poll, ahead of former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich with 9 percent and former Jon Huntsman of Utah with 8 percent. Gov. Rick Perry of Texas lags far behind with 1 percent.

Mitt Romney Beating Ron Paul and Rick Santorum in New Hampshire
With the primary looming on Tuesday, former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts is routing the Republican field in New Hampshire according to a poll released on Friday from Rasmussen Reports.
Romney leads the field with 42 percent followed by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul with 18 percent, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania with 13 percent and former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah with 12 percent. Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich takes 8 percent and Gov. Rick Perry of Texas pulls 1 percent.

Adam Hasner Calls for More Senate Debates
Former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner has called for a series of 10 debates with the other Republican candidates looking to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012. Hasner called for each debate to be 90 minutes in length in a letter sent out to the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) and two of his main rivals -- former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux and U.S. Rep. Connie Mack.

Mitt Romney of Massachusetts leads in the Palmetto State but hes hearing the footsteps of former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania. South Carolina will hold its primary on Jan. 21.

Rick Perry Raises the Stakes in South Carolina
After finishing in fifth place in the Iowa caucus on Tuesday night, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas surprised most pundits on Wednesday when he announced that he was staying in the race. Perry is planning to mostly ignore New Hampshire -- which holds it primary this coming Tuesday -- to focus on South Carolina which hosts its primary on Jan. 21.
In an email sent out to supporters late on Thursday, Perry clearly highlighted his commitment to doing well in the Palmetto State.

While most eyes are on the battle for the Republican presidential nomination and the upcoming session of the Florida Legislature which opens next week, the team behind U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, who is running for the Republican nomination to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, continues to plan ahead for their campaign.

Sarah Palin to Keynote CPAC Meeting
While she may not be running for president, former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska is staying in the spotlight even as the various Republican presidential hopefuls continue to battle for the GOP presidential nomination.
On Thursday, the iconic American Conservative Union announced that Palin will offer a keynote address at the Conservative Political Action Conference event that will be held in Washington, D.C., from Feb. 9-11.
