Rick Scott Announces Vistakon Expands on First Coast Creating 100 New Jobs
On Wednesday, Gov. Rick Scott hit the First Coast to announce Vistakon will expand in Jacksonville, creating 100 new jobs and bringing $218 million in capital to the region in the next three years.
Scott was on the First Coast on Wednesday to continue his tour showcasing his proposal to cut $500 million in taxes and fees and to take part in a 9/11 remembrance ceremony in St. Johns. Vistakon, which is owned by Johnson & Johnson, has been a cornerstone of Jacksonvilles Southside, employing around 1,800 residents of the First Coast.

Allen West: 'Obama has Shown Incompetence and Weakness'
Former U.S. Rep. Allen West had harsh words for President Barack Obamas policy in the Middle East on Tuesday. Taking to Facebook, West, who has opened the door to a political comeback in 2016, ripped Obama before the presidents speech on Syria.

Marco Rubio Urges Kathleen Sebelius to Meet With SeaWorld Employees Impacted by Obamacare

Marco Rubio, R-Fla., continued to push against President Barack Obamas federal health-care law on Tuesday as he wrote U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, urging her to visit SeaWorld workers who are losing hours due to the law which goes into effect on Oct. 1. Vern Buchanan Backs Russian Proposal on Syria
With the Russian government indicating it will work with Syria for that nation to relinquish its chemical weapons, U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., said the idea had merits and should be considered.
The Russian proposal to address Syria through diplomatic negotiations instead of military action deserves serious consideration, Buchanan said on Tuesday. Whether or not this becomes a reality, the door has now been opened for the international community to express support for a diplomatic solution. By so doing, our country can avoid an ill-advised military strike.

Rick Scott Names Christi Underwood to 9th Circuit Court
Gov. Rick Scott named attorney Christi L. Underwood to the 9th Judicial Circuit Court on Tuesday. Formerly with Foley & Lardner, Underwood has been a sole practitioner for more than a decade. She takes the post which had been held by Judge Frederic Rand Wallis who resigned.
Through her decades of practicing law, Christie has exhibited the qualities that make for a fair and capable judge, Scott said. I am certain she will continue to demonstrate knowledge of the law and judicial restraint while serving the citizens of Florida on the 9th Judicial Circuit bench.

UNF Nursing Program Honored by AACN
While most higher education headlines focused on the U.S. News and World Reports rankings of colleges and universities, on Tuesday, a school in Florida was honored for its nursing program.
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) named the the University of North Floridas (UNF) School of Nursing as a best practice program.
