Republican candidate Marco Rubio, the front-runner in the U.S. Senate race, launched his third television ad in Spanish. Rubio ignores his opponents in the new ad, offering something close to a valedictory address as the election comes to a close. The translation, provided by the Rubio camp, is as follows: Id like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support youve offered me and respectfully ask for your vote.

Trailing in most polls by double digits, Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running for the U.S. Senate with no party affiliation, launched a last-minute attack against Republican front-runner Marco Rubio. In his new ad, Crist, who left the Republican Party after blowing a huge lead in the polls to Rubio before the Republican primary, insists he is the only candidate in the race who can win who will stand up to extremism -- a term he uses to describe Sarah Palin, Rubio and the tea party movement.

Republican attorney general candidate Pam Bondi touched base on school choice on Wednesday. "I come from a long line of public school educators, including both of my parents and my sister, and I care deeply about the direction in which our education system is going," said Bondi. "Keeping our kids in school and giving them the best education possible will not only create an educated work force, bringing and keeping businesses and jobs in our state, but most importantly is an essential component of keeping our children out of gangs, off drugs and away from other crimes.

A call for gubernatorial candidates Rick Scott and Alex Sink to oppose any efforts to emulate Arizona's immigration law drew a stiff rebuke today from Floridians for Immigration Enforcement(Flimen). "It would be premature for the candidates to take a pledge one way or the other now because Rep. Bill Snyders bill is only in the drafting stage at this time," said Jack Oliver, spokesman for the Pompano Beach-based group.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who placed second in the 2008 Republican presidential primary in Florida and is almost certain to run for the presidency again in 2012, went to bat for 10 Republican congressional candidates across the nation on Wednesday -- including Steve Southerland in North Florida who is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd. Romney is calling for his backers to do all they can for Southerland and the other candidates he endorsed.

Florida Senate President-designate Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, may have failed to fully disclose his financial interests from 2004 to 2008, according to a report from the Florida Commission on Ethics. "The Commission found probable cause to believe that Mike Haridopolos, member of the Florida Senate, failed to fully disclose his financial interests for the years 2004-2008," the report says. The report could ruin any hopes Haridopolos had of starting in his new role with a clean slate.

The Rick Scott for Governor campaign may have gotten the political bombshell it needed to push ahead in a tight race with Alex Sink. Sink was caught breaking the rules during the final gubernatorial debate Monday night. The next day she told national news media on live TV that she didn't know who the message was from, but it was later discovered she was told it was from a staffer. Now the Scott campaign has ads pointing out the hypocrisy of his Democratic opponent, using her own ads against her.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is taking aim at 20 congressional Democrats who backed new federal health-care laws and represent districts carried by the Republican presidential ticket in 2008 -- including two Florida Democrats.

Former Tallahassee Mayor Scott Maddox, the Democratic nominee in the state agriculture and consumer services commissioner race, took aim at his Republican rival U.S. Rep. Maddox said he watched the debate between Scott and Democratic candidate state CFO Alex Sink on Monday. It seems clear to me that Rick Scott wanted to turn his campaign and the campaigns in Florida to things in Washington, said Maddox.
