Pam Bondi Talks Up School Choice
Republican attorney general candidate Pam Bondi touched base on school choice on Wednesday.
"I come from a long line of public school educators, including both of my parents and my sister, and I care deeply about the direction in which our education system is going," said Bondi. "Keeping our kids in school and giving them the best education possible will not only create an educated work force, bringing and keeping businesses and jobs in our state, but most importantly is an essential component of keeping our children out of gangs, off drugs and away from other crimes.
"I strongly believe that while providing adequate funding of our public schools is essential, money is only part of the solution to improving our educational system," added Bondi. In order to ensure our children are getting the best education possible, we must provide choice and innovation in education and get away from the notion that the best school is the one assigned by zip code, rather than the best fit for the child.
Bondis team attacked her Democratic rival, Sen. Dan Gelber of Miami Beach, for opposing school-choice options during his career in the Legislature. Both camps launched attack ads on Wednesday on everything from adoption laws to keeping a dog displaced by a hurricane. Keep an eye on Sunshine State News for a look at the new ads.
