Voters in two Panhandle counties said, with their votes, they are convinced that slot machines will bring jobs and economic development. More than 60 percent of Gadsden County voters on Tuesday were in favor of allowing Vegas-style machines at Gretna Racing and Poker, while more than 54 percent of voters in Washington County backed the same gambling option at Ebro Greyhound Park. Gov. Rick Scott has suspended a commissioner of the Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue District who on Jan. 26 was charged with eight counts of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious molestation. Mark D. Ruben, who was first elected to the district in 2000, was charged with molesting three children over seven years, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
