Quinnipiac University released a poll on Wednesday showing Barack Obama ahead of the two leading Republican presidential hopefuls in Florida. The poll shows Obama beating Republican hopeful Mitt Romney in Florida, with the Democrat incumbent taking 49 percent and the former Massachusetts governor following with 42 percent. Obama does better when matched up against Rick Santorum, taking 50 percent, while the Republican follows with 37 percent.

Wisconsin is the big prize up for grabs Tuesday as the Republican presidential hopefuls battle in primaries there and in Maryland and the District of Columbia. A poll released by the Marquette Law School on Tuesday finds that Mitt Romney has a solid lead over Rick Santourm in the Badger State. The poll has Romney ahead of the pack with 39 percent followed by Santorum with 31 percent. Ron Paul is a distant third with 1 percent while Newt Gingrich is floundering in Wisconsin with 5 percent.

On Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney received a major endorsement in Pennsylvania -- the home state of Rick Santorum, his main rival for the GOP nomination. U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., announced that he was backing Romney. Like Santorum, who was defeated by current U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa,, Fitzpatrick lost his seat in 2006 but he would rebound to reclaim it in the 2010 elections.

Gov. Rick Scott signed an executive order Tuesday that ended the suspension of Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco from her elected position as mayor of Tamarac. Flansbaum-Talabisco was suspended from office on March 9, 2011, after she was arrested on four public corruption charges involving two South Florida developers who sought her support in building projects in the South Florida city. On March 14, 2012, Circuit Judge Cynthia G. Irnperato dismissed the charges, ruling there was no evidence she received personal benefit from the developers.

As gas prices continue to rise, a poll from Rasmussen Reports released on Tuesday finds that a plurality -- 48 percent of American adults -- want to see the federal government temporarily remove the federal gas tax until prices are lower. While 12 percent are not sure, 40 percent think the federal gas tax should remain in place at this time. The poll of 1,000 adults was taken March 24-25 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent. The federal fuel tax is 18.4 cents per gallon for gasoline and 24.4 cents for diesel fuel.

While the California Republican presidential primary is not until June 5, the Golden State is the largest electoral prize on the map and is bringing a whopping 172 delegates to the Republican convention in Tampa come August. Teamsters Local 2011 has filed a legal challenge to restore the requirement that probation officers visit the homes of certain criminals on probation. Ron Silver, the Teamsters attorney, called the personal contact the main way probation officers monitor offenders. A two-year investigation into insurance fraud has resulted in 15 arrests in Miami where lunch trucks were used to stage more than a dozen crashes, resulting in more than $800,000 in property damage and personal injury protection claims, state Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater announced Tuesday. I am confident that reforms passed this session will help stop fraud at the source while giving us more tools to go after scam artists, Atwater stated in a release. I will not stand by and let these organized crime rings steal your hard-earned dollars.
