Florida House Approves Senate's Redistricting Map
Submitted by Anonymous on March 27, 2012 - 2:29pm
The House, as expected, approved the Senates second effort to redraw the Senate boundary lines for the once-a-decade redistricting.
However, the vote was closer than expected at 61-47, with a number of South Florida Republicans -- voicing displeasure at the lack of a fourth Hispanic district -- joining the Democratic opposition.
The map will go back to the Florida Supreme Court, which will either approve the new lines or craft their own lines based upon the voter-approved Fair Districts amendments.
