Fox News reported on Wednesday morning that Newt Gingrich will suspend his bid for the Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday. With five primaries this week in the Northeast, Gingrich hoped to slow down Mitt Romney, the heavy favorite for the GOP nod, on Tuesday and he focused on Delaware -- where he still placed a distant second.

Ron Paul is focusing on his home state of Texas as he looks to trip up Mitt Romney, the overwhelming favorite for the Republican presidential nomination, but a new poll shows that he will have problems doing that in the Lone Star State. A new poll from Public Policy Polling, a firm with connections to prominent Democrats, shows Romney is leading in Texas with 45 percent followed by Newt Gingrich with 35 percent and Paul in distant third with 14 percent.

Calling the New Black Panther Party an "Islamist extremist organization," a Florida group on Wednesday condemned the $10,000 bounty that remains on the head of George Zimmerman. "The New Black Panther Party has issued a fatwa, an Islamist order or command, calling for the unlawful capture (kidnapping) of a citizen who had no outstanding arrest warrant," said the Florida Family Association. "The NBPP's illegitimate reward offer for a kidnapping is something you see in the Middle East Arabic world, not in America. It should not be tolerated by law enforcement."

Two years after oil from a BP well began gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. Department of Justice has filed its first criminal charges. They allege that a former BP employee destroyed critical evidence in the early days of the disaster. The charges are significant because they are the first to target an individual employee for his actions.

Rick Scott signed four bills Tuesday, expanding public records exemptions and local use of recycled water, cleaning up benefits of the divorced that hadnt updated their benefits, and allowing some Citizens Property Insurance customers to see reduced premiums. HB 401The bill voids the transfer of assets, such as insurance policy payments, from a dead person to their former spouse when the paperwork has yet to be updated.

The states new Task Force on Prescription Drug Abuse and Newborns held its first meeting Tuesday with an appearance by Gil Kerlikowske, the director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Kerlikowske, a former police chief from Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce, credited Bondi for attacking the growing problem that has been below the radar.

The legal counsel for the merit retention campaigns of three state Supreme Court justices said the election-related paperwork handled on court time Monday involved financial disclosure forms, not "electioneering communications." "The disclosure form is something that everyone who holds a constitutional office in Florida is required to file each year -- including appellate judges -- whether or not they are running for office," said Dan Stengle, counsel for the merit retention campaigns of Justices Fred Lewis, Barbara Pariente and Peggy Quince.

Rep. John Mica, R-Orlando, on Tuesday called on the General Services Administration to immediately oust a high-ranking official at the center of recent scandals at the agency. Mica, who chairs the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, asked GSA Acting Administrator Dan Tangherlini to fire, or at least dock the pay of, Region 9 Public Buildings Service Commissioner Jeffrey Neely.

Obamacare has inadvertently caused problems to as many as 1 million college loan borrowers so far -- as if students don't have enough to worry about. With only 17 delegates to the Republican convention in Tampa come August, Delaware is the smallest prize on the table on Tuesday when five states in the Northeast -- the others are Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island -- hold presidential primaries. But the Blue Hen State may host the most important of those five contests.
