The Citizens Property Insurance Corp.'s presidential-search committee has narrowed its recommendations to Barry Gilway, president and CEO of Mattei Insurance Services, and Glenn Pomeroy, CEO of the California Earthquake Authority. Gilway and Pomeroy were the two top candidates as ranked by a search selection company from the five remaining applicants for the post. The full board meets at 9 a.m. in a teleconference. Tom Grady, the interim president and an applicant for the post, was not added to the list of finalists.

Tampa attorney Gwynne Alice Young will be installed as the 64th president of The Florida Bar, with Eugene K. Pettis, a Fort Lauderdale attorney, sworn in as president-elect, during the Bars Annual Convention June 22 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, the Bar announced Tuesday. Young, a shareholder at Carlton Fields, is the fifth woman elected to the Bars highest post. She is also the fifth attorney from the firm to lead the Bar.

U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami, announced Tuesday she would introduce next week a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives aimed at forcing states to repeal their Stand Your Ground laws. Her bill calls for the federal government to withhold transportation funding to states that have Stand Your Ground laws. I have been disturbed by the murder of Trayvon Martin for many months, Wilson stated in a release.

In a letter late Tuesday, Northwest Florida legislators asked Gov. Rick Scott to immediately declare water-ravaged Escambia and Santa Rosa counties natural disaster areas. "As you are aware, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties were hit over the weekend with large amounts of rain causing widespread flooding and forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate their homes," the letter read.

Gov. Rick Scott ordered national and state flags at half-staff on Wednesday at thecourthouse of Miami-Dade County, Homestead, and outside Floridas Capitol in Tallahassee, for Specialist Gerardo Campos. Campos, 23, died of wounds caused by enemy small-arms fire on June 2 in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Campos was assigned to B Company, 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

A "viral" video of cancer patients at Seattle Children's Hospital has been pulled by Sony Music and the Hearst Corp., after it became an Internet sensation. With patients, doctors and nurses dancing and lip-syncing to Kelly Clarkson's song, "Stronger," the video drew more than 2.5 million viewers in less than a week before it was yanked. It was hardly a professional production, according to TV station WSDK, which reported that the video was courtesy of 22-year-old Chris Rumble, a cancer patient from Kent, Wash.

Rep. Sandy Adams, R-Orlando, sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder regarding the growing threat of SWAT-ting and its costly ramifications. In her letter with 87 co-signers, Adams stated: Lately, there have been a string of threats directed at conservative bloggers where individuals call emergency dispatchers under the guise of another persons name with fraudulent claims. These claims then cause local law enforcement to swarm the home of innocent Americans, and in some instances they have done so with guns drawn.
