Two Florida politicians are still in the running to snag the Republican presidential nomination, with a new poll of South Carolina voters putting U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., slightly ahead of former Gov. Jeb Bush as voters’ first choice for the nominee.

Olustee, Largest Civil War Battle in Florida, to be Reenacted this Weekend

Civil War aficionados, sporting both the Union blue and the Confederate gray, will be gathering this weekend some 15 miles east of Lake City, in the middle of the Osceola National Forest and right off Interstate 10, to re-enact the battle of Olustee -- the largest Civil War battle in Florida. This month marks the 152nd anniversary of the battle.

The world is a dangerous place. Make no mistake, my fight will focus on building the most robust, highly-capable fleet.

Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are currently working to change that of course but, even so, Florida has been an important place for many of the presidents.

Former U.S. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton, the favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination, had kind words for President Barack Obama’s call for $1.8 billion from Congress to fight the Zika virus and praised efforts to battle it in Florida.
