Tom Rooney, Citrus Caucus Look at Citrus Greening

From his perch as chairman of the Citrus Caucus, U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Fla., held a meeting on Capitol Hill on Thursday over the impact of citrus greening which has devastated Florida’s orange industry. 

Rooney brought USDA officials and scientists to the meeting and he expressed some optimism about efforts against citrus greening. 

“It is my hope that by working with all of you, we can get to a point where we may not have a cure, but we can manage greening in a way to make it worthwhile for someone to be a citrus grower,” Rooney said. 

Other members of the Florida delegation at the meeting included fellow Republicans U.S. Reps. Bill Posey and Dennis Ross.
