House Doesn't Budge on Everglades 'Legacy' Money

The House is sticking with a proposal to create a 10-year funding pool only for Everglades restoration, setting up potential negotiations with the Senate on how to spend voter-approved money for land and water conservation.
 
With little comment, the proposal known as "Legacy Florida" was teed up Tuesday for a House vote as soon as Wednesday.

The House proposal (HB 989), which seeks at least $200 million a year for Everglades projects, is narrower than a Senate proposal.

Floridians Say Yes to Medical Marijuana in Latest Poll

If medical marijuana were on the ballot today, Floridians would pass a constitutional amendment to legalize it, according to a new poll released Tuesday. 

The Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey found 65 percent of likely voters are in favor of a state constitutional amendment to expand medical marijuana while 28 percent are opposed to the idea.

Florida is expected to vote on a medical marijuana amendment in November and would need to receive 60 percent of the vote to be adopted.

A new poll shows U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., has the edge on U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., in the Democratic primary to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in the U.S. Senate but more than half of Florida Democrats are undecided.
