Bill McCollum: Replace Economic Development Office to Create Jobs

Attorney General Bill McCollum thinks the best way to move forward with job creation and business growth in Florida is to replace the state office that oversees economic development.

If elected this fall, the Republican gubernatorial hopeful has plans to overhaul and rebrand the governors Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development (OTTED). It was a subject that came up in a big way as McCollum campaigned Tuesday morning at the Danfoss Turbocor factory in Tallahassee.

Kendrick Meek Backs Obama Suit Against Arizona Immigration Laws


With U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder unleashing a lawsuit on Arizona for its new immigration laws, at least one Florida Democrat is standing with the Obama administration -- U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek who is running for the U.S. Senate.

"I strongly oppose the recent immigration law in Arizona and will fight attempts to implement similar laws in Florida, said Meek. We need comprehensive immigration reform, not philosophy driven policies and patchwork solutions. The Department of Justice did the right thing in fighting this law.

Ousted Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer calls them "the four horsemen." But Bill McCollum, Mike Haridopolos, Dean Cannon and John Thrasher do not appear on the prosecution's witness list.

While Gov. Charlie Crist is named 62 times in the investigative report on Greer and could be called as a witness by both the prosecution and the defense, the four top Republicans are nowhere to be found.
