A Nobody Angling for a Knockout

July 5, 2010 - 6:00pm

LAS VEGAS -- Sometimes provocative people become that way because they were provoked. Sharron Angle, 60, could be enjoying the 10 grandchildren she loves even more than her .44 magnum. Instead, she is the Republican nominee against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's quest for a fifth term. Her campaign began, in a sense, three decades ago, when a judge annoyed her.

Florida Seafood Safe, Plentiful, Say Commercials, Grocery Stores

July 1, 2010 - 6:00pm

World Cup fever has hit the U.S. Senate and both Floridas senators have caught it. Both Democrat Bill Nelson and Republican George LeMieux signed the letter, along with more than 20 other members of the Senate. The last time the U.S. hosted the World Cup was 1994.

No comment from either Nelson or LeMieux on the Netherlands upsetting Brazil on Friday morning.

On America's 234th Birthday, a Look at Florida's Role in the Revolution

July 1, 2010 - 6:00pm

As the nation celebrates the 234th anniversary of independence this Fourth of July weekend, Floridians can look back at the strange and almost entirely forgotten role their state played in the American Revolution.

A Spanish colony for almost 200 years, the English gained Florida at the Treaty of Paris in 1763, which ended the Seven Years War. People in the U.S. call it the French and Indian War.
