House Seat 71: Representing parts of Charlotte, Lee and Sarasota counties, Rep. Ken Roberson, R-Port Charlotte, appears headed for another term in the House. Roberson had around $39,000 in the bank at the end of July. Democratic candidate Andrew Saltman had less than $500 on hand. Unless something drastic happens, Roberson is a heavy favorite to win in November.
House Seat 66: With Rep. Baxter Troutman, R-Winter Haven, leaving the House, two Republicans and a write-in candidate are battling for this seat representing all of Hardee County and parts of Highlands and Polk counties. Longtime chairman of the Florida Citrus Commission Ben Albritton is a heavy favorite to win the Republican nomination over Chevon Baccus.
House Seat 61: Having raised more than $533,000 and with more than $181,000 on hand at the end of July, Rep. Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, is a solid favorite to win another term. Weatherford, who represents parts of Hillsborough and Pasco counties, is in line to be speaker in 2013 and 2014. He should be able to brush aside Republican primary challenger Kevin Wright with ease. Democratic nominee Coast Guard veteran Elena McCullough is a solid candidate but with $15,000 in the bank at the end of July, she needs to get cracking on fund-raising.
House Seat 56: Having raised more than $119,000 and spent more than $74,000 by the end of July, Rep. Rachel Burgin, R-Tampa, is the favorite to represent parts of Hillsborough County for two more years but her opponents will give her some problems.
House Seat 51: Republicans would love to knock off Rep. Janet Long, D-St. Petersburg, who represents parts of Pinellas County -- but it will be a tough task. As at the end of July, Long had raised more than $118,000 and spent almost $40,000. Republicans had some hopes for businessman Larry Ahern, but he has started off weakly with fund-raising. By the end of July, he had raised less than $24,000 and loaned the campaign $5,000 -- with more than $16,000 of that already spent. Victoria Torres is in the race as a TEA Party candidate.
House Seat 46: Rep. John Legg, R-Port Richey, will represent parts of Pasco County for another two years. Legg is the only candidate in the race.
House Seat 41: Rep. Stephen Precourt, R-Winter Garden, is the heavy favorite to represent parts of Lake, Orange and Osceola counties for another two years. He is burning quickly through his war chest. While he raised more than $103,000, he had spent more than $71,000 of it by the end of July. That should not be a worry this election cycle. College instructor Lee Douglas has the Democratic nomination and has not posted impressive fund-raising, hauling in less than $3,600 by the end of July. Jon Foley is running in the general election as the TEA Party candidate.
House Seat 36: Two Republicans, an independent and a write-in candidate, look to defeat Rep. Scott Randolph, D-Orlando, who represents parts of Orange County. It wont be an easy task. Randolph raised slightly less than $55,000 and kept most of it on hand -- with expenses of less than $17,500 at the end of July. Greg Reynolds raised a substantial amount more than Republican primary rival candidate Craig McCarthy, but neither campaign had much cash on hand at the end of July. Reynolds is the favorite to win the Republican nod but he will be an underdog to defeat Randolph. Independent Lawanna Gelzer and a write-in candidate will also be on the ballot come November.
House Seat 31: While three Democrats are running in the primary to take on Rep. John Tobia, R-Melbourne, the incumbents worried about a challenger in the Republican primary.
House Seat 26: With Rep. Pat Patterson, R-DeLand, retiring due to term limits, this seat representing parts of Flagler and Volusia counties has drawn three Republicans and one Democrat in the race to take his place.
