The Florida Legislatures current debate on immigration threatens the economic stability of Florida. Punitive measures aimed at undocumented workers will create an atmosphere of fear for them and their families. At the same time, these same punitive measures will alienate legal residents and foreign tourists who, because of their ethnic profile, could be mistaken for undocumented migrants.

Poll: Floridians Overwhelmingly Favor Photo ID Requirement to Vote

Likely voters in Florida overwhelmingly support a law requiring Florida voters to present a government-issued ID in order to vote, according to a statewide survey.

A proposal to require all Florida voters to show a government-issued ID such as a drivers license in order to vote received almost universal support from respondents to a Viewpoint Florida survey conducted April 13-18.

Some 87 percent of respondents said they would support a photo ID requirement, compared to just 9 percent who said voters should not be required to show an ID.

Workforce Central Florida Trips on Its Cape

Amid a hail of public mockery, Workforce Central Florida abruptly shut down a marketing campaign to distribute 6,000 red capes to job seekers and employers.

But it doesn't end there. A state investigation is now under way, marking the third time Workforce Central Florida has come under scrutiny for questionable spending practices.

The agency said its "out-of-the-box" initiative was designed to "introduce our programs and services to job seekers and employers who need them."

In a statement issued Wednesday, the agency said the cape giveaway produced quick results.

Workforce Central Florida Pulls Its Controversial Cape Campaign

Workforce Central Florida shut down a controversial marketing program Wednesday, ending a campaign to distribute 6,000 red capes to job seekers.

The agency said its "out-of-the-box" initiative was designed to "introduce our programs and services to job seekers and employers who need them."

But amid a hail of public condemnation and mockery, the agency cut short its $14,000 campaign, which an agency news release admitted "seemed to offend some."

Libertarians Argue Obama Backing 'War on Poker'

With the U.S. Department of Justice having shut down three online poker sites last week, Mark Hinkle, the chairman of the national Libertarian Party, has declared that the Obama administration has launched a War on Poker.

"The Obama administration has just trampled on the rights of millions of Americans," said Hinkle. "This is also a scary reminder of President Obama's vision of a government with the power to shut down websites it doesn't like, before a trial has even started.

Looks Like GOP Presidential Hopefuls Support Early Florida Primary Over RNC

Who cares about the RNC threatening to undermine the Florida presidential primary if its held early? Not the leading Republican presidential candidates, according to an interesting article by Alexander Burns over at Politico. While the RNC continues to huff and puff about Florida holding an early primary, the candidates -- especially in what appears to be a very open fight for the presidential nomination -- simply cant blow off the Sunshine State.
