'Ver En Español' Added to Florida Senate Website

The Florida Senate is adding a new Spanish-language translation feature on its website.

The Ver En Espal button will be placed on the home page to allow visitors to read select pages in Spanish.

With the introduction of this new feature, we are giving an entire segment of our states population easy access to a wealth of valuable information, Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, stated in a release.

Chamber Backs Online Tax Collection, Education Reforms in 2012 Agenda

The Florida Chamber of Commerce remains opposed to new and increased taxes, but also believes that taxes currently on the books -- even in the paperless world -- should be collected.

Chamber President Mark Wilson said it isnt fair that businesses in Florida must collect the state sales tax while online companies, such as Amazon, can advertise the same item to Floridians without having to charge the same sales tax.

He said the loophole puts small businesses at a disadvantage.

Weatherford, Gaetz Make a Video to Mark 100 Redistricting Maps

Florida has received 100 maps from residents proposing how to redraw the state's legislative and congressional districts.

House Redistricting Chairman Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, and Senate Reapportionment Chairman Don Gaetz, R-Niceville,marked the event by making a video for MyFloridaHouse that was posted on YouTube.

Three of the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination unveiled endorsements this week in New Hampshire -- home of the first presidential primary.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts has built strong leads in most polls of the Granite State and he looked to add to that margin on Thursday when he announced the backing of state Sen. David Boutin, R-Hooksett, who becomes the seventh member of the New Hampshire Senate to support his presidential bid.

Sarah Palin to Headline RPOF Fundraising Dinner in November

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be on center stage at a fundraiser in Orlando for the Republican Party of Florida. Palin will be at the 2011 RPOF Victory Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 3.

"This gala dinner comes just a year before one of the most important elections in Florida and the nation's history," said RPOF Chairman Lenny Curry. "Having a Republican leader of Governor Palin's stature and importance is yet again proof of the crucial role Florida will play as the year unfolds. We are so grateful that Governor Palin has accepted our invitation."
