State Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Fort Myers, wants to make it illegal for protesters to get close to any military funeral in Florida.
Benacquisto filed a bill Thursday that would expand the state's existing law against protesting at military funerals by setting a 500-foot buffer between the funeral and those protesting.

With news breaking on Friday that the unemployment rate in Florida dropped to 10.6 percent, Republicans and conservatives at the state and national levels looked to blame President Barack Obama and Democratic U.S. Sen. Fullwood: Offer Undocumented Immigrants' Kids In-State Tuition
State Rep. Reggie Fullwood, D-Jacksonville, has filed a bill that would allow students who are legal citizens, but are children of undocumented immigrants, to pay in-state college tuition.
House Bill 441, End Tuition Discrimination, would allow the students to pay the less expensive in-state tuition if they graduated a Florida high school and are seeking a four-year degree.

Restaurant Association Joins Opposition to Casino Expansion
The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association has joined the Florida Chamber of Commerce in opposing the expansion of casino gambling.
The influential trade association called the destination casino bills expected to be debated in the Legislature in 2012 a rose surrounded by thorns.
Whether it is called destination resorts by proponents, or casino hotels by opponents, it still boils down to one incendiary issue -- gambling, the association stated in its 2012 priorities.
