Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and the End of the Reagan Coalition

Amid the ruins of the 2012 presidential election, Republicans are finally awakening to the fact that the coalition that propelled Ronald Reagan to two decisive electoral wins is no more.

While Republicans. from presidential candidates down to school board members, continue to invoke the Gipper as often as they can, the fact remains that even the youngest voters who could have punched the ticket for Reagan back in 1984 are now at least 50.

Florida to Twinkies' Rescue? Sarasota and Boca Raton Companies to Make Bids to Acquire Hostess

Don't take out the funeral pals forTwinkies, Ding Dongs, and Ho Hos quite yet. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports a small companyheadquarteredin the Sunshine State might be coming to the rescue:

"A local investment company said Monday it plans to make a multimillion bid for the Hostess bakery line, which includes iconic brands such as Wonder Bread and Twinkies snack food.

"But Hurst Capital LLLP acknowledges that winning what is likely to be a bidding war in federal bankruptcy court will be an uphill climb.

Don Gaetz, Will Weatherford Offer Joint Agenda for 2013 Legislature

Election reform, along with jobs, education and ethics were listed as high priorities on a joint 2013 agenda released Tuesday when Senate President Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, and House Speaker Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, were formally elected to run their respective chambers.

Floridians shouldnt be embarrassed that while most counties in our state run flawless elections, some counties keep running flawed elections, Gaetz said in his acceptance speech during the Legislatures organizational meeting.

Will Weatherford Unanimously Elected as House Speaker

Rep. Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, was able to shed the designated tag from his title as he was elected House speaker for the 2013 and 2014 legislative sessions on Tuesday.

House members voted unanimously.

Florida Cabinet Backs Lenny Curry to Remain RPOF Chairman

Support continue to come in for Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Currys effort to remain in his job as the party ramps up for the 2014 elections.

A day after Gov. Rick Scott offered his endorsement for Curry to retain the chairmanship, the members of the Florida Cabinet -- Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam -- backed Curry in his bid for another term.

Don Gaetz Unanimously Chosen Senate President

Florida senators unanimously selected Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, as president.

The oath of office was administered, from memory, by his son Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach.
