Florida Says Farewell to Internet Cafes

Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation banning Internet cafes in Florida Wednesday.
The Legislature did the right thing to crack down on illegal gaming operators," Scott said. "We look forward to turning our focus back on jobs and education in this session.

Governor Signs Internet Cafe Ban; Most Senior Arcades Will Try to Limp Along

He didn't crow about it, but Gov. Rick Scott nevertheless signed HB 155, legislation Wednesday that bans Internet cafes and effectively shuts down senior arcades and maquinitas in Florida.
The governor's remarks were brief, issued in a statement. The Legislature did the right thing to crack down on illegal gaming operators," he said. He later answered reporters' questions about it in a brief press conference (see the video below).
Bill Posey Pushes NASA for Moon Settlement

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is pushing for NASA to revisit the Moon and establish a presence on it.
U.S. Rep. Bill Posey, who represents Floridas CD 8, has joined with eight colleagues to introduce the RE-asserting American Leadership in Space Act (REAL Space Act), which directs the space agency to engage in human space flights to the Moon and establish a presence there by 2022.
