
U.S. Rep. Bill Young, R-Fla., passed away on Friday. Earlier in the month, Young, who was 82, announced he would not run for re-election. Young had been in the hospital for a back injury resulting from a plane crash he survived back in 1970. There had been reports that Young was in poor health though, earlier in the week, he spoke with former President George W. Bush.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll found 34 percent of likely U.S. voters favor the NSAs tracking of the telephone calls and emails of millions of Americans as part of the effort to fight terrorism. Forty-nine percent are opposed, while 17 percent are not sure.

On Friday, Gov. Rick Scott highlighted the growth of online job openings in Florida over the last four and a half years. In April 2009, there were less than 152,200 online job openings in the Sunshine State. Last month, there were more than 271,100.
