Tampa Mayoralty Race a Battle of Two Cabals

To paraphrase former President Gerald Ford: “My fellow Tampanians, our long municipal nightmare is over.” 

That is, unless potential voters were comfortable with hypocrisy, empty promises, and losing political strategies that defy comprehension.

The seven candidates embraced Mom, apple pie, and transit while introducing themselves to low-income neighborhoods, activists, and community leaders. At least two candidates purchased group endorsements and anyone paying attention to the race, about 30 percent of registered voters, knows it.

Florida, Georgia Square off Again in Water War

Florida says the case is the “last, best hope” to save the Apalachicola River region from destruction.

Georgia says Florida’s arguments threaten to cause hundreds of millions of dollars in “real harm” to the Peach State.

Now, a federal appellate judge based in New Mexico will have to sort out the long-running battle between Florida and Georgia over water in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint river system, which starts in Georgia and flows south into the Florida Panhandle.
