Buchanan's Bill to Replace DD-214 With Veterans ID Card Passes House

On Monday night, the U.S. House passed a bill from a Florida congressman which ensures every veteran receives an ID card from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs without burdening taxpayers. The House passed the vote with 402 representatives backing it and no votes cast against it.

Circuit Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Against Voucher Program

The statewide voucher program which sends nearly 70,000 low-income students to private schools each year received some good news Monday afternoon when a Leon County circuit judge tossed out a lawsuit alleging the program is unconstitutional.

In the ruling, Judge George Reynolds ruled the plaintiffs -- who include the Florida Education Association, the Florida School Boards Association and the Florida PTA -- did not have standing to bring the lawsuit to court.

 

Marco Rubio Vows to Make a Play for Iowa

Continuing his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., showcased his efforts in Iowa, home of the first presidential caucus, on Monday.

Rubio showcased a Web video of his campaigning in Iowa that was released at the end of last week.

The Iowa caucuses are the first opportunity for voters to weigh in on who they want our presidential nominee to be and that means Ill be making many more visits to the state over the coming months, Rubio emailed supporters on Monday.

Ted Deutch Ramps Up Efforts Against Distracted Driving

At the start of the month, U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., teamed up with U.S. Reps. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., and Mark DeSaulnier, D-Calif., to introduce the Distracted Driving Prevention Act of 2015 which gives states incentives to crack down on texting or emailing when driving. On Friday, Deutch showcased his efforts and praised a similar push in Tallahassee from Sen. Maria Sachs, D-Delray Beach, and Rep. Irv Slosberg, D-Delray Beach.
