Tom Rooney Wants Increased Penalties for Conmen Targeting Veterans

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Fla., brought out two bills on Tuesday to crack down on fraud targeting veterans. Rooney, who served in the Army and taught at West Point, serves on the U.S. House Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee. 

Pointing toward increased fraud involving veterans, Rooney said that was the result of increased benefits. 

Ted Yoho Keeps Chipping Away at Obamacare

U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., showcased his support for repealing Medicare’s Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) which was set up by President Barack Obama’s federal health-care law. IPAB was created to “reduce the per capita rate of growth in Medicare spending" but Yoho and other critics said the unelected board had too much power over Medicare.

Nancy Pelosi Surfaces in South Florida Congressional Race

Candidates in a South Florida U.S. House race are bringing in congressional leaders to rally the troops during the last days of the second quarter fundraising period. 

Running against U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., former Miami-Dade Democratic Chairwoman Annette Taddeo turned to U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Monday. Pelosi sent out a fundraising email on Taddeo’s behalf. 

Praising Taddeo as a “voice for hard-working South Florida families,” Pelosi insisted national Republicans will go all out to help Curbelo. 

Donald Trump Compared to Dylann Roof by GOP Dark Horse Mark Everson

Dark horse Republican presidential candidate Mark Everson, the former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), came out firing at businessman Donald Trump’s presidential campaign kickoff, comparing him to Charleston gunman Dylann Roof. Everson has been a supporter of immigration reform though he opposes President Barack Obama’s use of executive action to change the laws.
