First Coast GOP Florida Senate Hopefuls Show their Right Side

The two Republican candidates seeking to replace term-limited state Sen. Steve Wise, R-Jacksonville, looked to stress their conservative credentials as they added endorsements on Wednesday in the race to represent Duval and Nassau counties.

Former state Rep. Aaron Bean unveiled the support of the Florida Medical Association (FMA) on Wednesday as he looks to return to Tallahassee. And Rep. Mike Weinstein, R-Jacksonville, announced he has the support of Rep. Larry Metz, R-Eustis, who reinforced Weinstein's conservative credentials.

Obama Set to Blame George Bush in Speech on Economy

President Barack Obama will come to the key battleground state of Ohio on Thursday to weigh in on the economy -- and to argue that he needs more time to turn back the economic policies backed by former President George W. Bush.

Obama is also expected to attempt to tie former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, who has won enough delegates to claim the Republican presidential nomination, to the policies backed by the Bush White House.

With five months to go until the 2012 presidential election, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney took the tone of the contest down a couple of notches, hitting the airwaves and going online to rip into each other.

The Obama team Tuesday launched a new television ad in key battleground states -- including Florida -- that attacks Romneys record during his tenure as governor of Massachusetts. The ad attempts to play a little political jujitsu, taking Romneys attacks and turning them against him, slamming the Republicans record on running up government debt and on job creation.

Santorum, who surprised the political world by winning 11 states in his battle with Romney, launched a new organization dubbed Patriot Voices on Friday. The former senator from Pennsylvania insists that his new group will help rally and organize 1 million conservatives to be active in the political process.
