After 10 Glorious Years, Sunshine State News and I Are Passing the Baton

Florida Gov. Rick Scott and the Republican Party of Florida are taking credit for the unemployment rate going down in the Sunshine State. The RPOF is running a new television commercial praising Scotts policies -- namely reducing regulations and slashing red tape -- which have helped lower the unemployment rate.

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, announced Wednesday that he is co-sponsoring "No Budget, No Pay" legislation that would block members' pay if Congress misses deadlines for budget and appropriations bills. Year after year, Congress misses important deadlines and puts off until the last minute bills that must pass to keep the government open, Rooney said. The Senate hasnt even written a budget in three years. Its no wonder the only thing worse than our credit rating is our approval rating."

The Family Law Section of the Florida Bar has donated $75,000 to support childrens legal services in the state. The gift of private funds, in response to the impending loss of legal aid attorney positions throughout Florida, will help support legal services for low-income children, such as foster children and those in need of access to medical, mental health and special education services.
