WASHINGTON -- In May 1967, in brazen violation of previous truce agreements, Egypt ordered U.N. peacekeepers out of the Sinai, marched 120,000 troops to the Israeli border, blockaded Eilat (Israel's southern outlet to the world's oceans), abruptly signed a military pact with Jordan and, together with Syria, pledged war for the final destruction of Israel.

CAT Fund Advisers Seek to Add Billion$ to Reserves

A move to firm up the states ability to respond to a hurricane on the eve of the storm season could mean a slight uptick in the average property insurance premium.

The Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund advisory council on Thursday recommended that at least $1.7 billion be added to the potential reserves, while researching market conditions to determine if more could be acquired.

The fund currently has about $8.6 billion considered on-hand to help Floridians after a storm, and can pursue through bonds to increase that to $17.3 billion following a disaster.

Rand Paul Backs Connie Mack to Challenge Bill Nelson

On Wednesday, the scion of one political dynasty announced that he was backing the heir to another, as U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., endorsed Connie Macks bid to challenge incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.

Macks father -- former U.S. Sen. Connie Mack -- held the seat for two terms before retiring in 2000. Paul, a rising star in the Republican Party and a favorite of the tea party movement, is the son of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, who is currently making his second bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
