The Florida Department of Law Enforcement didnt uncover any violation by the three state Supreme Court justices up for merit retention in using a court employee to prepare campaign documents.

However, there is still a lawsuit active seeking to keep the justices from the ballot, which Gov. Rick Scott noted in a release Thursday.

Florida Supreme Court Strikes Public Adjuster Provision

A provision in a 2008 law restricting the ability of public insurance adjusters to contact homeowners immediately after a storm was struck down Thursday by a unanimous Florida Supreme Court.

Prompted by claims that public adjusters were taking advantage of distraught homeowners following the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons, the Florida Legislature passed an insurance industry-backed effort to limit adjusters' activities, including contact between public adjusters and customers within the first 48 hours following a hurricane, tornado or other major storm.

Floridas three Cabinet members -- Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam -- are worth a collective $8,846,996, according to recently filed financial disclosure reports.

The overall mark is slightly downfrom the prior year, 2010, with Putnam, the wealthiest, dropping $300,000. Bondi has the least but now is able to report an income, showing the largest single-year gain at $200,000.
