The Supreme Court of the United States has just ruled on a matter of great public controversy. Conservatives, and others committed to judicial restraint, are in an uproar: one of their own has betrayed them.

A sitting justice was the swing vote in a decision that radically and expansively altered the relationship between citizens and their constitutional liberties.

We had been assured by elected officials repeatedly during the soon-to-be justices Senate confirmation hearings that he was a conservative home run.

Ron Paul Campaign and Supporters Ready for Dueling Events in Tampa

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, plans to end his bid for the Republican presidential nomination with an event in Tampa on the eve of the Republican National Convention in August.

While Paul will bring around 200 delegates to the convention, he is not expected to speak or to endorse former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, who is expected to be nominated in Tampa.

Paul will be speaking in Tampa on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the University of South Floridas Sun Dome in Tampa.

Mark Wilson, Florida Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that keeps mandates in place making people pay for health care coverage will harm Americas long-term global competitiveness.

But he also said the continued squabbling in Washington, D.C., over health care has caused many businesses to hold back on their plans for hiring and expansion because of the uncertainty on where health coverage is headed. And in many cases, employers are considering ending employer-based insurance plans because of the cost.
