Connie Mack Calls on Obama to Stop Iran's Nuclear Program

U.S. Rep. Connie Mack weighed in on Iran launching its first nuclear reactor -- and called for the Obama administration to pull the plug on that nations fledgling program.

Under Mahmoud Ahmadinejads dangerous leadership, Iran continues to enrich uranium and push forward with its plans for a nuclear program, while supporting terrorism and building stronger relationships with other enemies of freedom, said Mack. Irans actions threaten the freedom, security and prosperity of the Middle East.

Connie Mack Repeats Call for Tim Geithner's Resignation

Having been the first member of Congress to call for U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithners resignation back in March 2009, U.S. Rep. Connie Mack joined with U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner in repeating the call.

I agree with Leader Boehner that Secretary Geithner should step down, said Mack. From his questionable role in the AIG bailout to his mishandling of our economic recovery, Secretary Geithner has been a disappointment from the start.

New PPP Poll: Rubio Ahead and Meek Starting to Hurt Crist

A new poll from Public Policy Polling wont get much press since it was released on Tuesday, the same day as the primaries were held. It shows former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate election, leading Gov. Charlie Crist, who is in the race without party affiliation, and both of the leading Democrats in the race. The poll found Rubio taking 40 percent with Crist behind at 32 percent and U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek at 17 percent.

Florida Dems Take Aim at David Rivera in Web Video

Democrats are clearly smelling blood in South Florida. The Florida Democratic Party released a video on Tuesday focusing on congressional candidate Rep. David Rivera of Miami who is running in the Republican primary to replace U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart. The video highlights a number of stories that have come out about Rivera, including a strange one about him running into a truck carrying mailers for a political opponent back in 2002.

Florida Wins Race to the Top Education Funds

While not announcing how much each state will receive, the U.S. Department of Education announced on Tuesday that nine states -- including Florida -- and Washington, D.C., will receive more than $4.3 billion in federal funds in the second round of awarding the Race to the Top grants.

Other states that won were Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Rhode Island, which join previous winners Tennessee and Delaware from the first round.
