Democratic U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown and Republican U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart are going to have a media event in Tallahassee on Monday to continue their fight against redistricting measures backed by FairDistrictsFlorida that will be on the November ballot. At the event, the two members of Congress will announce the kickoff of the No on Amendments 5 and 6 campaign. Both of them have been vocal opponents of the measures all throughout the year.

Alex Sink Posts Her Tax Returns
On Friday, state CFO Alex Sink, the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, released her tax returns for the last five years -- and called for Republican rival Rick Scott to do the same.
Sink posted her tax returns-- and those of her husband attorney Bill McBride who was the Democratic candidate who lost to Gov. Jeb Bush back in 2002 -- on her site.

Unemployment Rises to 11.7 Percent
The Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI) announced on Friday that the unemployment rate rose yet again in Florida. For August the rate stood at 11.7 percent, an increase from July when it stood at 11.5 percent. Out of a pool of 9,229,000 Floridians, 1,084,000 remain without a job. From April and June, the rate dropped down from all-time record highs, but is starting to go up again.

Rick Scott Names County Chairs
Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott named chairmen in all 67 counties across the state on Thursday -- and had some interesting choices. Stafford Jones, a sold backer of Attorney General Bill McCollum, will head up efforts for Scott in Alachua County; RPOF vice-chairwoman Debbie Cox-Roush will lead Scotts team in Hillsborough County.

Florida Religious Conservatives Join Push for Manhattan Declaration
