In New TV Ad, Charlie Crist Attacks Marco Rubio on Social Security

Fading in the polls behind Republican candidate Marco Rubio, Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running in the U.S. Senate election without party affiliation, unleashed a new commercial attacking his Republican rival on Social Security. The ad maintains that Rubio will cut Social Security in order to balance the budget.

Kendrick Meek Turns His Fire on Marco Rubio Instead of Charlie Crist

With less than a month to go until the general election, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the Democratic nominee in the U.S. Senate race, is turning his fire away from Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running without party affiliation, onto Republican candidate former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the front-runner in the race.

Since winning the nomination, Meek has hammered Crist, looking to keep Democrats from voting for the governor.

Now with Rubio ahead by double digits in the polls, Meek focused his attacks onto the Republican.

Sink Camp Responds to Scott's GOP South Florida Endorsements

The campaign team of Democratic gubernatorial candidate state CFO Alex Sink responded to three Republican Latino members of Congress endorsing her Republican opponent on Monday.

"This is yet another illustration of divisive partisan politics," said Kyra Jennings, a spokeswoman for Sink. "Republicans are desperate to salvage their power and save their own jobs. This has nothing to do with what's in the best interest of Floridians and who will do best by them."

Rush Limbaugh Packs Punch in Family Guy Appearance

Conservative radio talk-show host and Florida resident Rush Limbaugh was on the attack again Sunday, but liberals needn't duck and cover.

This time he was defending Brian, a dog on the Fox animated sitcom 'Family Guy,' with a series of martial arts moves.

Limbaugh also showed off his softer side in a duet with Brian later in the episode.

Putnam Racks up Another Endorsement

U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, received another endorsement Monday in the race for agriculture and consumer services commissioner, this time from a hunting organization as his campaign hopes for a clean shot at the Cabinet seat.

Two weeks after eight public officials, including the mayor, were arrested in Bell, Calif., on corruption charges, Alabama state senators were among those arrested Monday as part of a crackdown on vote-buying related to gambling legislation.

Last Day to Register to Vote for November Election

Voters have until the end of the day Monday to register to vote for the Nov. 2 election.

To be eligible to vote in Florida, one must be a U.S. citizen, a Florida resident, at least 18 years old, not be "adjudicated mentally incapacitated" (a lower threshold than one would think), and not be a convicted felon -- or have one's rights restored after a felony conviction.

Voters can register here, or with their local county's supervisor of elections office.

Gov. Charlie Crist Considering Fatherhood

In an interview with a South Florida TV station today, Gov. Charlie Crist said he and his wife Carole had discussed the possibility of having kids. Crist pointed out the fact that he's 54, but said his wife is still young.

"I think it would be cool," he said.

But it's a decision he says they won't make until after the election.

Charlie Crist Eats One Meal a Day

In an interview with a South Florida TV station Friday afternoon, a reporter asked Gov. Charlie Crist how he keeps fit.

He told the reporter he exercises regularly, and eats only one meal a day.

"You don't even snack?" asked the reporter.

"I did today." Crist responded. "Sometimes I break the normal routine,"
