Putnam Racks up Another Endorsement
U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, received another endorsement Monday in the race for agriculture and consumer services commissioner, this time from a hunting organization as his campaign hopes for a clean shot at the Cabinet seat.
United Waterfowlers - Florida, Inc., a duck-hunting advocacy group, gave the Polk County native its official endorsement, one of many from sportsmen and agriculture groups supporting Putnam. In addition to an edge in endorsements, Putnam's campaign also has a fund-raising edge over his opponent, former Tallahassee mayor Scott Maddox, as well as a lead in the polls. A recent poll by the Florida Chamber of Commerce has Putnam leading Maddox 36 to 28 percent, with many voters still undecided in the race.
"I would like to thank United Waterfowlers - Florida for its endorsement of my campaign for commissioner of agriculture. As commissioner, I look forward to expanding access to hunting, fishing, horseback riding and off-highway vehicles on public lands to ensure all Floridians have the ability to enjoy these opportunities," Putnam said.
